Soldiers To Sidelines closes out the first month of the year with a fantastic Men’s Lacrosse Virtual Coaching Seminar. We are grateful for the guest coaches who contributed to this star-studded event.

The 7-time NCAA National Champion Coach Bill Tierney, Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach University of Denver, delivered another inspiring message about returning to fundamentals, emotionally investing in your players, and the power of gratitude. Notre Dame Defensive Coordinator Ryan Wellner showed the class unique approaches to zone defense. Eric Hagarty, Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Endicott College and Co-owner of Peak Goalie educated us on some of the most innovative and effective methods for improving goalie performance.  Will Corrigan, Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Harvard University demonstrated the latest techniques and strategies for faceoffs.  J.L. Reppert, Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Holy Cross College, and US Marine Corps Veteran, discussed his approach to man-up offense. We appreciate all the time and effort contributed by these highly talented coaches.

This engaging educational coaching seminar was made possible by our key sponsors and partners.  Wounded Warrior Project welcomed the class and powered the entire event.  USA Lacrosse represented by Kevin Greene, Director of Coach and Athlete Development, presented on the latest strategies of skill development for all levels of lacrosse.  In addition, USA Lacrosse donated free memberships to all our certified coaches. Lastly, a special thank you to our sponsor Warrior Sports who showed us innovative ways on how equipment can make lacrosse more affordable and approachable.

This coaching seminar was produced and delivered by STS Director of Lacrosse Scott Urick who is the Assistant AD and Head Lacrosse Coach at Georgetown Preparatory School, in Bethesda MD.  Coach Urick brought decades of wisdom from coaching college lacrosse, earning All-American honors at Georgetown University, All-Star honors in the MLL, and competing on the world stage for the USA National Lacrosse team as a player.

Hall of Fame coaching legend Jack Emmer who spent 22 years at the helm of the US Military Academy at West Point closed the seminar with his inspirational message to all our Soldier Coaches.  Coach Emmer represents the power of lacrosse and military experience as a foundation to positively influence young athletes to grow into U.S. citizens of character.

All the information provided in this seminar was unique and special to our participating service members, veterans, and Military Spouses.  We are grateful for the time and attention our certified Soldier Coaches spent throughout the week. Congratulations to our newest class of Soldier Coaches. Welcome to the tribe!
